The Parables of Jesus and Their Relevance to Divine Healing — BKTL001
By Trevor Leach, spiral bound, 316p $49.95 + S&H
$49.95

Description: This book analyses seventy parables of Jesus and is an anthology of information written about these Parables. The book of 316 pages is organised in three sections.

Section A looks at what are meant by Parables and why Jesus taught by Parables. William Barclay writes “The stories of Jesus are the best known stories in the world. They were produced on the spur of the moment, often instantaneously in the cut and thrust of debate, improvisations in the dust and heat of conflict. It is the duty of a prophet to trouble his fellow countrymen, disturb them and make them think, making them see what they really are. When we put the parables all together we shall gain an unmatched insight into the mind of the Master teacher.”

Section B gives a commentary on each of the seventy parables dividing them into six categories.

Section C is very enlightening as the content of each parables is given from many different Bible translations and the message of each parable, its context, historical background, biblical cross references and an analysis of each parable is given.

Romans Chapter Eight — BKTL002
By Trevor Leach, spiral bound, 30p $12.95 + S&H
$12.95

Description: This book, of Romans Chapter Eight, takes us on a spiritual journey in five sections. Here are some of the highlights from the book:

In this wonderful chapter Paul shows us how to be in union with Christ and Thomas A Kempis writes in the “Imitation of Christ” “Blessed the ears that catch the pulses of the divine whisper” “Be wholly absorbed in Him and filled with His love”. Mary Baker Eddy says “leave the minor tones of so called material life and abide in Christlikeness”. The King James Bible translation says” bring into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ. George Fox said “We turn to the Spirit of God in ourselves”. Douay translates “We are longing to take the shape of Christ”.

As Paul wrote in Galations “Let the Spirit of God dwell in you” and in Romans 8 “The Christ be in you, his indwelling spirit in your lives.” In his letter to the Ephesians Paul writes “God has called us to share the life of Christ” “That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith”. Pope John Paul II said “Walk alongside Christ as a friend” In Corinthians, Paul puts it this way - Let the light of the glorious gospel (The good news of Christ) Man as the image of God, dawn upon you and bring you illumination (II Cor 4:4 King James, Goodspeed, American Standard Version, New English Bible, Knox).

It is important that we take the opportunity each day to identify ourselves correctly as sons and daughters of God, heirs of Christ and that we “Don’t let the world squeeze us into its own mould” (J.B. Philips). We should live on the spiritual plane and “be conformed to the image of His son, as brothers and sisters in Christ” As Paul tells us in Ephesians “Be imitators of God” and in II Corinthians “Sharing in God’s work”, Let heaven fill your thoughts (Living Bible). So thanks be to God who leads you in Christ’s triumphant way and makes your knowledge of him spread throughout the world like a lovely perfume II Cor 2:14 (JB Philips).

Old Testament Parables — BKTL003
By Trevor Leach, spiral bound, 52p $15.95 + S&H
$15.95

Description: This book reminds us of twenty five parables in the Old Testament such as: The high cedar (Ezek 17:22 24) and The Ploughman Isa 28:23-29.

It gives us an analysis of the parables and suggests the message of each, using various different Bible translations. It is a basic study book that we can use to do our own study and analysis of these inspiring Old Testament Parables.

The parables warn of the danger of drunkenness, confusion, pride, over-confidence, un-forgiveness, revenge, covetousness, slothfulness, laziness, confrontation, disobedience, tyranny, oppression, unfruitfulness, treason, arrogance, apathy, negligence, selfishness, ruthlessness.

The Parables share many inspiring spiritual ideas such as “Listen to the wisdom of God and flourish.” “Be unified by the Spirit of God, take spiritual refreshment” “Let the Christ reign in you”. “Be a good shepherd and be fruitful”.

Spiritual Healing in the UK During the Past 350 Years — BKTL004
By Trevor Leach, spiral bound, 32p $12.95 + S&H
$12.95

This book reviews the upsurge in Christian healing in the UK from 1647 to 1997 and shares information on eleven healers. Some extracts are given below.

From the time of George Fox, a seeker for the revelation of Truth, who advocated that we should stop being obsessed with sin and start focussing on the light of Christ and unconditional love. George understood how Christ conquers and destroys the temple through an understanding of the perfectibility of all men and women. He encourages us to “be lifted up in a right understanding of God.” The book recollects the wonderful healing work of John Wesley as well as Lady Victoria Murray, Howard Cobb, Dorothy Kerrin, Blanche Cross and eight other healers in the twentieth century.

John Wesley was a pioneer of the National Health System in the UK and wrote that “prayer is the highest medicine.” John Wesley appealed to the physicians of his time to gain an understanding of the healing power of God.

Lady Victoria Murray did wonderful healing work in Scotland and England as a result of reading Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures. In 1901 Mary Baker Eddy invited Lady Victoria, her sister and their parents to take class instruction with Edward Kimball. Lady Victoria took four trips to America to see Mrs. Eddy and in 1907 she asked her the question “I would like to know how you heal the sick?” Mrs. Eddy replied “I heal the same today as when I commenced. My original way was instantaneous... The argument used in healing is simply ‘tuning up’. If your violin is in tune there is no need to tune it up. ”Keep our violin in tune, Keep your violin in tune”... God is All and God is infinite, [this] precludes all else, Keep your violin in tune.”

The book includes a timeline evidencing the unfolding of Christian healing in the twentieth century and points out that in 1978, the Lambeth Conference focussed on “Healing the sick through Christ”.

Howard Cobb, who in 1928 established the Anglican “Crowhurst home of Divine Healing” advised “Avoid anxiety and surround the sufferer with thoughts of health continuously, dwell on the thought of perfection. Affirm that the Holy Spirit is dwelling within you, and that the fruit of His indwelling is peace. Give thanks without waiting to see the result, go on giving thanks, accept the healing... let the Spirit of Christ, Truth, search our hearts and bring to our consciousness anything in need of cleaning, alteration or re-adjustment and expect, in full assurance, complete and instantaneous healing.

Dorothy Kerrin was a pioneer of Christian Healing in the Anglican Church, who established the Anglican healing centre “Burrswood” with a spiritual foundation. Her great gift was to discern the divine in people, to see the Christ within. She wrote in her book “The Living Touch”, “What our Lord did in Galilee two thousand years ago, he can and does now. The New Testament is full of promise of healing and I am confident that as soon as we are brought to open our spiritual eyes we shall see that fulfilment... we shall know the Truth and realise the wonderful power of the love that is infinite. I believe we are on the threshold of a great revelation... to embrace the things that are spiritual.”

Brother Mandus, who founded the ”World Healing Crusade” based in Blackpool, England, said “Our constant mission is to know the truth about ourselves and our relation to God. We are born to be Christlike. The very laws of Mind insist that we must change our thinking if we would change our experience.

Jesus’ Parables and Healings: Listening and Learning — BKTL005
By Trevor Leach, spiral bound, 111p $24.95 + S&H
$24.95

Description: This book looks into the spiritual ideas contained in nine of Jesus’ parables, and then compares each of theses parables with one of Jesus’ healings, to see how the spiritual ideas taught in the parable are evident in the demonstration of healing.

The Bible work was done using many different bible translations which gives the work a freshness and vigour. Also, where appropriate, composite accounts have been used by taking appropriate verses from the various gospels, to create a more complete account than can be found by just reading one gospel on its own.

The book encourages the reader to seek and find spiritual ideas they can use in their daily lives to bless mankind. This is a workbook to help the reader make these spiritual ideas his/her own and provides a very thoughtful spiritual journey for those interested in divine healing.
